Overview Elected Officers Downloads

Quality means many things to many people. Quality may be defined as being the degree to which a product or service meets requirements of customers and other interested parties (ISO). Quality is also thought of in terms of the impact of a product or service on the whole of society (Taguchi) – for instance, what cost do we as a society pay for unsafe (poor quality) drinking water or inconsistent public transportation? A Quality Nation is a World Class Nation, a status to which each citizen aspires.

Overview of TTSQ

The Trinidad & Tobago Society for Quality (TTSQ) is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2002 to promote the principles and practices of the Quality discipline to its members and the wider society of Trinidad and Tobago. TTSQ is open to T&T nationals and non-nationals resident in T&T, who are primarily quality practitioners and/or hold membership in the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

The idea for TTSQ was initiated at a meeting of approximately 50 Quality Professionals held in July 2001 at the Trinidad and Tobago Bureau of Standards (TTBS). At that meeting an Interim Management Team was appointed with members representing a wide cross-section of Quality practitioners working in T&T. In May 2002 the first election of TTSQ Board of Directors and Executive Management was held at the TTBS. Presently, there are sixty-five (65) registered members in the Society.

The key objects of TTSQ are:

  1. To promote the adoption and use of quality principles and best practices for the enhancement of all sectors of the society.
  2. To promote the teaching and education of quality principles and practices to its members, within institutions of learning and to the wider society.
  3. To develop and maintain a resource database of information on quality best practices.
  4. To contribute to the development of standards and outcome measures.
  5. To facilitate the continued professional development of its members.
  6. To encourage the practice of a high level of professionalism and integrity and to advance the quality profession.
  7. To provide a means for quality professionals to network nationally and internationally and to affiliate the Society to other appropriate institutions.
